A small warty toad with dark irregular spots and blotches highlighted with gold flecks on an olive green background color. It has a light stripe down the center of its back. The parotid glands are typically highlighted gold. Ventrum is pale with black speckling.
Range
Endemic to Dixie Valley of Churchill County in west central Nevada.
Habitat
This toad's extremely limited range consists of small, spring-fed marshlands in a hot, geothermally active isolated valley.
Variations
Dark spotting is usually dense, but sometimes more sparse, leading to a greener overall coloration.
Similar species
This toad was once considered a subspecies of the similar western toad (*Anaxyrus boreas*).
