Range
Found in the central prairie range of the United States, as far north as Minnesota and as far south as Texas. Small population found in Manitoba.
Habitats
Grasslands and open fields with loose soil or sand. Usually found near a water source.
Identification
Total length between 5 and 9 inches. Coloration is brown or tan background with several thin light-colored stripes down dorsum and on sides.
