Range
Eastern and Central United States & Mexico. Range extends north to Michigan and south to north-east Mexico, west to Colorado and east to the Atlantic Ocean.
Habitats
Semi-aquatic. Found on edges of freshwater streams and ponds with abundant vegetation.
Identification
Adult length ranges from 0.75-1.5 inches from snout to vent. Slender waist with webbed toes. Dorsal coloration ranges from grey to light brown with triangle mark on head and dark bands on legs. White bar runs laterally down head and body from eye to base of legs.
