Range
Found in the Chattahoochee and Nantahala National Forests along the border of North and South Carolina.
Habitats
Hidden under rotting logs or leaf litter in riparian areas of temperate forest. Will burrow underground when it's too dry or below freezing.
Identification
Primarily slate grey with cream colored blotches along its sides and the base of its tail. It has a thick body and tail, and well-developed legs. Snout to vent length is about 6 cm in adults.
