Range
North central Louisiana and southern Arkansas.
Habitats
Lives among moist leaf litter in hardwood or pine forest habitats. Often hides under ground debris, rocks, or logs.
Identification
A black salamander with small white splotches all over its body. It averages 4.5-7 cm in snout to vent length and has well-developed legs. Its tail is round and about the same length as the body. It has a wide, flat head and a short snout.
